MAKE AND BREAK AT SPICY MEXPIPE
Posted July 14, 2017
Puerto Escondido continues to pump. Over the course of July 8-10, a solid south swell rifled into Playa Zicatela, with some of the world’s elite big wave surfers on tap as Mexpipe served up prime beef.
Your cast here, Fransico Porcella, Greg Long, Coco Nogales, Eric de Souza, Alex Gray, Jojo Roper and more.

As lensman, Edwin Morales recalls: “July 8th was one of the best first days of the swell we have seen in a long time. It was around six foot at first light and in two hours, the swell had filled in very quickly reaching 12ft. The next day was solid 15-18ft and pristine conditions. It has been a special run of swell cause pretty much every surfer out was getting barrelled.
“Of course there was carnage, Jamie Mitchell got a pretty bad injury and so did a few other guys. Messed up knees, backs, necks and a high number of broken boards. Lucky everyone is ok. Low tide in the mornings made it really thick. Looks like more swell on the way.”
