Aloha Films is pleased to announce that recent release NIHI, has been awarded the prestigious 2003 Slate Award for Best Documentary from the California Independent Film Festival. NIHI has also been awarded Best Documentary awards from the 2003 Malibu Film Festival and The 2003 Big Bear International Film Festival. NIHI is a biography on world renowned waterman, big wave surfer, stuntman and global adventurer, Titus Nihi Kinimaka. The film takes viewers on a biographical journey that exposes the essence of Hawaiian life, its fascinating culture and seeks to define the Aloha spirit.
Kauai, the most sacred of the Hawaiian Islands comes to vivid life through the eyes of 10 year Hawaiian resident and two-time Emmy Award winning cinematographer Brooks Guyer. Vivid action and archival footage of Hawaiian life is narrated by such surf legends as Louis Ferrera, Darrick Doerner, and a host of Kauai’s surfing royalty including Carlos Andrade, Chava Greeley and Kala Alexander. Audiences will be drawn to this film by its up close and personal interviews, state of the art point of view digital technology, beautiful cinematography, and authentic Hawaiian soundtrack.
Nihi premiered May 15th at the Playboy Mansion, Los Angeles and has been officially selected to: Pacifika Film Festival, NY May 2003; Chicago Indie Fest August, 2003; Ft.
