Aussies pack theatre for premiere of “The Big Wave Project”
Tim Bonython’s latest adventure
follows big-wave surfing’s brotherhood
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 May, 2017 – Tim Bonython’s latest film “The Big Wave Project” launched last night in New South Wales, Australia as the centerpiece to the 13th edition of the Australian Surf Movie Festival, Bonython’s annual travelling film fest. In attendance were the film’s stars, legendary surfers, industry vets and stoked fans.
“Tim Bonython’s Big Wave Project didn’t disappoint,” said Simon Anderson. “The reaction of the people there said it all. I ‘ve never heard so many “ohs” and “ahs” in a cinema. A great insight to the inner sanctum of just about every big wave charger and big wave destination from around the globe.”
The film travels across Australia, Tahiti and finally to Europe’s new frontier of Nazaré, in Portugal. Featured surfers include Jamie Mitchell, Aaron Gold, Mark Healey, Ryan Hipwood, Grant “Twiggy” Baker and Billy Kemper, with insights from Peter Mel, big wave icon Greg Noll, the legendary late Brock Little.
